SEAL-IT-RIGHT
A "Wipe on" / "Buff off" procedure
Apply Seal-It-Right to a small piece of soft white lint-free cotton cloth. Wipe on a small area of the counter — approximately 6 square feet area at a time. Let soak in about 2 minutes. Buff off excess sealer. DO NOT LET IT DRY ON THE SURFACE. Apply a second coat right away, using the same method. Then allow 8 to 10 hours to dry before adding additional coats. Different stones have different density. After 2 or more coats of sealer, do the following tests:
Testing For water repellence: Sprinkle drops of water on the surface (leave for approximately 30 minutes). Check for absorption and re-apply more sealer if the stone absorbs water.
Testing For Oil Repellence: When granite does not absorb water, sprinkle one drop of oil in an inconspicuous area and test for absorption. Add more coats of Seal-It-Right if necessary. Oil repellence is important.
NOTE: Granite will take at least 2 or more coats for good repellence. Light colour granites need more coats of this repellent sealer. Be you best judge!
NOTE: As you add more coats of Seal-It-Right, the granite will not easily absorb the sealer with each additional coat. Be careful not to let the sealer dry on the surface as a scum.
You should re-apply 1 coat of sealer each year to assure that the top surface is fully sealed.
